In celebration of the Gramophone Magazine election of Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra as the best symphony orchestra in the world, MonteVerdi.TV will broadcast Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, featuring soloist Mitsuko Uchida, from the RCO’s recent "120 Years Jubilee Concert".

In 2008 the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra celebrates the anniversary of its formation in 1888. Soon after its establishment 120 years ago, the orchestra developed into one of the best in Europe. "Really magnificent, full of youthful vigour and enthusiasm" as Richard Strauss put it in 1897… The Orchestra was granted Royal status in 1988. It has made more than 1,100 LPs, CDs and DVDs. On November 21 Gramophone Magazine named RCO the number 1 symphony orchestra in the world. The jubilee concert took place on 24 October 2008 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
